that's much better. so this is how this guy stands at the moment. i am enjoying the way the painting dissolves into color in the lower right corner. i was having this sort of break down over the past two weeks with these conflicting voices in my head calling me towards abstraction and then towards figuration and then back and then back...impossible to work while trying to define. then i found this brilliant interview statement by cecily brown where she states that she stays away from using those terms because she likes to have it both ways. it was so reassuring to read this. it really calmed me down and has helped me let the world drop back a bit while i paint.
